摘要: Has the introduction of click chemistry concept by Sharpless and colleagues in 2001 lead to a paradigm shift how we approach design macromolecular materials; or is it simply relatively inconsequential re-branding exercise already existing slightly optimized but well-tried tested reactions as some critics would have it? The current Trend Article analyses situation examining series select research fields shed light on this question, providing an unambiguous answer: focusing polymer chemists through what constitutes powerful modular chemical transformation generate specific polymeric material defining element contemporary synthetic chemistry, transcending reaction. Without philosophy several classes innovative materials designs not been realized.
