摘要: Epidemiology formed the basis of 'the Barker hypothesis', concept 'developmental programming' and today's discipline Developmental Origins Health Disease (DOHaD). Animal experimentation provided proof underlying concepts, continues to generate knowledge mechanisms. Interventions in humans, based on DOHaD principles, will be informed by experiments animals. As this has accumulated, from studies humans other animals, complexity interactions between genome, environment epigenetics, been revealed. The vast nature programming stimuli breadth effects is becoming known. a result our accumulating we now appreciate impact many variables that contribute programmed outcomes. To guide further animal research field, Australia New Zealand society (ANZ DOHaD) Animals Models Research Working Group convened at 2nd Annual ANZ Congress Melbourne, April 2015. This review summarizes contributions understanding DOHaD, makes recommendations for design conduct maximize relevance, reproducibility translation into improving health well-being.
