摘要: The photosynthetic bacteria are at the forefront of study many aspects photosynthesis, including photopigment biosynthesis, photosynthetic-membrane assembly, light-harvesting, and reaction center photochemistry. facultative growth some bacteria, their simple photosystems, ease genetic manipulation have all contributed to advances in these areas. Amongst purple non-sulfur bacterium Rhodobacter sphaeroides has emerged as, arguably, leading contender for a model system which integrate studies different assembly function apparatus. Many genes encoding photosynthesis-related proteins known be clustered within small region genome this organism. As further aid studying photosystem Rb. sphaeroides, DNA sequence genomic segment containing photosynthesis gene cluster (PGC) been assembled from previous EMBL submissions formerly unpublished data. PGC is 40.7 kb length consists 38 open reading frames H, L M subunits, α β polypeptides light-harvesting I (B875) complex, enzymes bacteriochlorophyll carotenoid biosynthesis. PGCs feature organization several similarities between clusters capsulatus apparent time. Here we present first comprehensive analysis as well comparison with that capsulatus.
