摘要: Abstract In the paper we report state-of-the-art of seismicity study in Baikal rift system and general results obtained. At present, regional earthquake catalog for fifty years permanent instrumental observations consists over 185,000 events. The spatial distribution epicenters, which either gather along well-delineated belts or discrete swarms is considered detail different areas system. same time, hypocenters are poorly constrained making it difficult to identify fault geometry. Clustered events like aftershock sequences typical patterns region; moreover, aftershocks M ⩾ 4.7 earthquakes make up a quarter whole catalog. maximum magnitude recorded instrumentally MLH7.6 strike-slip event NE part MLH6.8 normal central (Lake basin). Predominant movement type faulting on striking faults with left lateral component W–E planes. conclusion, some shortcomings seismic network data processing pointed out.
