摘要: Abstract Wettability is an important phenomenon in the liquid phase sintering of silicon carbide (SiC) ceramics. This work involved a study wetting SiC ceramics by two oxide systems, Al2O3 /Dy2O3 and /Yb2O3, which have so far not been studied for application Five mixtures each system were prepared, with different compositions close to their respective eutectic ones. Samples pressed into cylindrical specimens, placed on plate subjected temperatures above melting points using graphite resistance furnace. The behavior melted was observed means imaging CCD camera sessile drop method employed determine contact angle, parameter that measures degree wettability. results variation angle as function temperature plotted graphic form showed curves displayed fast decline good spreading. All samples systems presented final angles 40° 10° indicating argon atmosphere. melted/solidified area interface between evaluated scanning electron microscopy (SEM) crystalline phases identified X-ray diffraction (DRX).
