摘要: [1] This study has investigated the error associated with estimation of instantaneous areal rain rate over land by NOAA/NESDIS Office Research and Application's Special Sensor Microwave/Imager (SSM/I) algorithm. By comparing ground-based observations from Oklahoma Mesonet gage network, inherent in SSM/I-based estimate is quantified. Since gauges use point measurements to rain, do not make a perfect contain an error. A formulation been developed which difference between SSM/I- Mesonet-based estimates divided into two parts: one due other SSM/I. separate also measurement quantified according density statistics (variance spatial correlation). nine-month data set 15-min accumulation for 100 gages used obtain compare SSM/I various scales. Results show that 0.5, 1.0, 2.5-degree boxes are approximately 150%, 100%, 70% mean rate, respectively.
