摘要: The capacity of wheat roots to lift water from subsoil with high moisture content into dry topsoil (hydraulic lift) and the subsequent impact on P uptake are poorly understood. Two experiments were set up test 4 genotypes differing in efficiency take fertiliser banded (with wet subsoil). interactions among genotypes, banding depths, watering regimes (whole-profile or subsoil-only watering) also characterised. root system increased soil 64 90 g/kg around band by taking releasing it during night. Phosphorus applied as a at 20 mg P/kg (5 cm deep) significantly shoot weight compared nil control. Westonia Gutha (efficient utilisation, based matter produced per unit taken up) had higher weights than Aroona Wawht 2074 (genotypes responsive fertilisation, applied). Greater growth occurred treatment depth 5 cm 15 whole-profile treatment, but no difference between depths was noted treatment. Wheat fertilisation 5-cm efficient utilisation. Phosphorus-utilisation-efficient more other It can be concluded that various lift). due presence hydraulically lifted water. Genotypes utilising fertilisers In contrast, P-responsive P-utilisation-efficient when depth, regime imposed.
