摘要: The ocean circulation on the Bering and Chukchi sea shelves is investigated using a barotropic numerical model. In presence of winter seasonal wind stress from northeast, observed northward transport through Strait 0.6 Sv for 8-month season 1981–1982 can be driven by level difference 0.4 m between Pacific Arctic oceans. This basins in agreement with hydrographic estimates. absence 0.4-m drives 1.1 Sv. Maximum geostrophically limited, not frictionally or inertially limited. Major qualitative features region are evident simulations. Westward intensification across Sea shelf confirmed, major occurring relatively deep Gulf Anadyr. wind, Anadyr contributes 72% Strait. With northeasterly winds there net clockwise around Saint Lawrence Island. Within 20-m isobath, Norton Kotzebue sounds little influenced general circulation. Northward bifurcates vicinity Point Hope. predominant branch directed toward northwest broad canyon feature south Herald Shoal, balance becomes Alaskan Coastal Current Cape Lisburne Barrow.
