摘要: Summary About 2.5 million Mexicans migrated to the United States during 1997–2002, and 1.6 of them sent remittances their families. Did recipients change labor force status in response these remittances? This question has been examined before. Unlike previous studies, we separate persistent from sporadic remittances, use propensity score matching measure differences behavior. We find limited evidence participation effects which is broadly consistent with being an integral part household’s income generation strategy.
