摘要: Abstract CeO2 nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized by coprecipitation using cerium(III) nitrate hexahydrate as the precursor and ethanol solvent. Different concentration of cobalt-doped cerium oxide NPs (3mol % 6 mol %) prepared adding various concentrations cobalt chloride to nitrate. The as-synthesized characterized through X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements, ultraviolet (UV)–visible spectroscopy, Photoluminescence (PL) transmission electron microscopy (TEM). XRD results reveal that as-prepared had a face-centered cubic structure with crystallite size in range 5–8 nm. TEM analyses showed Co-doped homogenous distribution (sizes within 5–12 nm). Band-edge absorption redshifted upon increasing Co compared undoped NPs. PL spectra peak shift emission doping, which due an increase oxygen defects localized between Ce4f O2p energy levels (i.e., via formation Ce3+ states). Photocatalytic degradation methylene blue aqueous solution under UV visible (sunlight) irradiation presence pure was investigated. efficiency photocatalytic increased both light. (6 mol%) efficiencies 98% 89% at 420 min exposure light, respectively.
