Morphological Diversity of Mitochondria in Cultured Astrocyte, HeLa, COS7 Cells under High Voltage Electron Microscopy

摘要: Mitochondrion is an important intracellular organelle controlling energy production essential for cell survival. In addition, it closely related to cellular apoptosis and necrosis. Linear, branched, circular, ball-shaped mitochondria have been reported. Recent research suggests that mitochondrial morphology may reflect functional status of the cell. this study, we investigated density ratio each morphological categories in a few normal cultured cells; astrocyte, HeLa COS7 cells, which metabolic activities are different, with high voltage electron microscopy. The absolute number relative per unit area was largest astrocyte. But, proportion different shape similar among cells. These results shows numerical profiles but not activity line.
