Altitude distribution of stratospheric NO3: 1. Observations of NO3and related species

摘要: Five balloon-borne observations of the vertical profile stratospheric NO3 and ozone were performed between 1981 1985 by using star planet occultation technique at 662 nm. During last two flights, NO2 was also measured same 440 The latest available laboratory determination 662-nm absorption cross section has been used for data analysis. This gives concentrations that are about a factor 2 lower than those previously reported. concentration increases with altitude, from 1×107 molecules cm−3 around 22 km, to 2×107 38 km in September. A maximum value 4×107 observed May 1982. Ozone results obtained flights as presented. companion paper provides details on comparison modeled profiles.
