摘要: Perfluorooctanoate (PFOA) is a perfluorinated compound (PFC) that has been widely used in numerous consumer products since the 1950s.1–3 Human exposure typically occurs through transfer from food packaging, bioaccumulation chain, and inhalation of household dust 4. PFOA almost always detectable serum5 found amniotic fluid,6, 7 maternal umbilical cord blood,8, 9 breast milk.10–13 Epidemiologic evidence on child development limited, with variation timing specific endpoints. In Danish National Birth Cohort (n=1,400), prenatal levels were unrelated to reports age 7.14, 15 Three cross-sectional studies observed divergent associations among measures attention school-age children. Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES; n=571), higher associated increased odds parent-reported Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).16 New York State, several PFCs – although not impulsivity (n=79).17 Using C8 Project data (n=10,546), parent study present report, Stein Savitz reported reduced ADHD at highest level.18 We recently examined children report prospective (n=320) performance neuropsychological tests.19 With childhood there was modest increase intelligence quotient (IQ), decrease behaviors typical ADHD, null reading skills, math functioning. The current complements existing literature by providing examination concentration mother teacher behavior assessed 3 4 years later ages 6 12. In 2001, group residents West Virginia Ohio communities surrounding chemical plant near Parkersburg, filed class action lawsuit alleging health damage drinking water supplies drawing PFOA-contaminated groundwater.20 Geometric mean this population approximately 5 times national average; most other reflected background levels. invited subset participate follow-up assessing neurobehavioral development.
