Comparison between cartilage and fascia grafts in type 1 tympanoplasty.

摘要: OBJECTIVES We retrospectively analysed long-term hearing results and graft take rates in our cases with both temporalis muscle fascia the cartilage island technique. METHODOLOGY Between September 2000 October 2011, a total of 489 patients underwent tympanoplasty, while 318 had tympanoplasty using fascia. In this study we included follow-up period at least 3 years. Exclusion criteria were ossicular chain defects, cholesteatoma, otorrhoea, middle ear granulation or effusion, history surgery. RESULTS The group consisted 49 patients, 28 being group. Both air conduction thresholds bone gaps improved significantly groups. However, no statistical significance was found between for two groups (p > 0.05). CONCLUSION Our concurs many others literature, clearly indicating that produces are comparable to grafts.
