摘要: Data on colonization of rat carcasses by aquatic insects in riffle and pool areas a small woodland stream were obtained to elucidate patterns potentially useful for determining the postmortem submersion interval corpses flowing water habitats. After 39 days, had no visual signs deterioration absence large scavenging animals. Midge larvae (Diptera: Chironomidae) dominant colonizing carcasses. No numbers over time evident, but diversity genera increased after 29 days riffle. Also, Orthocladius did not begin colonize until 13 20 pool. Although separated only m, rats dissimilar faunal assemblages. This suggests that different indices based midge should be developed these two investigation does provide replicated data, shed light what may happen mammalian placed at particular year.
