摘要: Stroke is one of the leading causes death and severe disability in most industrialized countries. Despite extensive research efforts both academic industrial laboratories during last few decades, no changes have been brought about by design neuroprotective therapies. The progressive decrease stroke-induced entirely attributable to improvements identification reduction risk factors. Over past years, experimental has led emergence a wealth information regarding complex interrelated processes neuronal degeneration triggered ischemia. This unprecedented insight new theories on mechanisms ischemic damage, suggested targets strategies for therapeutic intervention designed reduce clinical consequences stroke. Among current developments, three seem particularly appealing—namely, limitation initial or secondary inhibition apoptotic mechanisms, enhancement endogenous capacity nervous structures restore lost function, replacement cells transplantation therapy.
