摘要: Abstract. Soil erosion/sedimentation is an immense problem that has threatened water resources development in the Nile river basin, particularly Eastern (Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt). An insight into soil mechanisms mitigation methods plays imperative role for sustainable region. This paper presents daily sediment yield simulations Upper Blue under different Best Management Practice (BMP) scenarios. Scenarios applied this are (i) maintaining existing conditions, (ii) introducing filter strips, (iii) applying stone bunds (parallel terraces), (iv) reforestation. The Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) was used to model erosion, identify erosion prone areas assess impact of BMPs on reduction. For conditions scenario, results showed a satisfactory agreement between observed simulated concentrations as indicated by Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency greater than 0.83. simulation reforestation scenarios reduced current yields both at subbasins basin outlets. However, precise interpretation quantitative may not be appropriate because some physical processes well represented SWAT model.
