摘要: Background: Diabetes mellitus, one of the oldest diseases mankind, is increasing in prevalence, and undergoing transition as a disease urban to rural areas. Aims & Objectives: The study aims screen population for diabetes mellitus its risk factors village. Materials Methods: A community based cross-sectional was conducted village (Chuchukonda) Visakhapatnam district. Systematic random sampling done every 10th household screened. All members were examined clinically subjected fasting blood sugar postprandial sugar. Results: Total covered 260, which 134 males 126 females. Majority (87%) belong backward community, 50% illiterates. 16% lead sedentary life. 12% alcoholics. 19% overweight 48% had chronic energy deficiency. mixed diet. 13 (5%) from tested positive diabetes. Among those testing positives, median age diabetics 40.5 years. 69.2% symptoms mellitus. 15% family history 38.5% hypertension, 23% overweight, 31% other co morbid illnesses. Conclusion: positive, 40.5yrs. hypertension. Healthy diet, regular physical activity, maintaining normal body weight avoiding tobacco use could prevent or delay onset Key Words:
