摘要: Scientific visualization is routinely promoted as an indispensable component of the knowledge discovery process in a variety scientific and engineering disciplines. However, our experiences with visualization at National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) differ somewhat from those described by many visualization community. Visualization NCAR used with great success to convey highly complex results wide audiences, but the technology only rarely plays active role day-to-day scientific process. We believe that one reason this is the mismatch between size primary simulation data sets produced capabilities software visual computing facilities generally available their analysis. Here we describe preliminary efforts facilitate well as non-visual analysis terascale sets aim of realizing greater return such large scale computation efforts.
