Application of an operational storm coastal impact forecasting system

摘要: The National Oceanography Centre (NOC), in collaboration with the UK Met Office, has developed an operational suite of models for Irish Sea. This work extended this to include a coastal vulnerability early warning system Sefton Coast Liverpool Bay. is designed forecast when offshore hydrodynamic and wave conditions exceed thresholds low, moderate high hazard storm impact also gives indication extent dune erosion. model simulates 72h period (yesterday:today:tomorrow), allowing 24h spin-up 48h forecast. main idea use forecasts impending storms assist management decisions.
