摘要: Background: Skeletal muscle (SM) is a large body compartment of biological importance, but it remains difficult to quantify SM with affordable and practical methods that can be applied in clinical field settings. Objective: The objective this study was develop cross-validate anthropometric mass prediction models healthy adults. Design: mass, measured by using whole-body multislice magnetic resonance imaging, set as the dependent variable models. Independent variables were organized into 2 separate formulas. One formula included mainly limb circumferences skinfold thicknesses [model 1: height (in m) skinfold-corrected upperarm, thigh, calf girths (CAG, CTG, CCG, respectively; cm)]. other weight kg) (model 2). developed cross-validated nonobese adults [body index kg/m ) < 30]. Results: Two for subjects (n = 244) follows: Ht × (0.00744 CAG + 0.00088 CTG 0.00441 CCG 2.4 sex - 0.048 age race 7.8, where R 0.91, P 0.0001, SEE 2.2 kg; 0 female 1 male, -2.0 Asian, 1.1 African American, white Hispanic, 0.244 X BW 7.80 6.6 0.098 3.3, 0.86, 2.8 -1.2 1.4 Hispanic. Conclusion: These models, first vivo state-of-the-art body-composition methods, are likely prove useful evaluations studies
