A life course theory of suicide risk

摘要: The three distinct suicide cycles reported since the late 19th century have been explained using sociological and biological theories. Despite their obvious differences, both theories operate through motivation. Like other aspects of suicide, however, such can also be by opportunity. Analysis recent findings on age- sex-specific illustrates a fundamental confound motivation opportunity, underscores need for theory that is based risk (risk = x opportunity), situated in framework life course contingencies.
