摘要: The treatment of patients with Meniere's disease that do not respond to conventional therapy becomes complicated, particularly when taking into account the issue hearing damage as well control vertigo. Treatment often involves intratympanic administration gentamicin, for which different protocols are used. Hence, it is important we better understand how this influences hearing, beyond mere audiometric assessments. aim prospective study was evaluate effect gentamicin on cochlear function, assessed by otoacoustic emissions. 41 included in had been diagnosed unilateral defined American Academy Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery guidelines (1995), refractory medical at least 1 year. Intratympanic injections a concentration 27 mg/ml were performed weekly intervals until indications vestibular hypofunction appeared treated ear. Before beginning 3 months after ending it, pure tone speech audiometry tests results expressed terms average (0.5, 1, 2, kHz) discrimination score, respectively. At same time, distortion product emission (DPOAE) its presence or absence, amplitude threshold emission. When analyzed terminated, loss seen 13 (31.7%). However, no significant change and/or emissions observed any patients. Neither changes stage, number required existence DPOAE before detected. method used here intractable can be considered having low risk auditory both audiometrically emissions, subablative function.
