Prevalence and factors associated with alcohol and tobacco use among non-institutionalized elderly persons

摘要: Abstract Objective: The present study aims to evaluate the prevalence of and factors associated with use tobacco alcohol among elderly people living in northern part city Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Method: A cross-sectional conducted through a home survey was performed sample 423 citizens. Interviews were questionnaire including Fagerstrom Audit-C tests. data subjected descriptive statistical analysis multinomial regression. Results: smokers 9.0%, 32.0% former smokers, 26.7% consumed alcoholic beverages 3.2% used smoked. In logistic regression model, that significantly smoking male gender, an age 60 70 years old; presence self-reported health problems; while consumption gender frailty. Conclusion: There low community who and/or smokers. Such individuals, however, almost exclusively suffered from impaired potentially poor quality life. Regarding profile such persons, there similarities between socio-demographic variables, suggesting possibility more targeted approach these individuals.
