摘要: STUDY DESIGN Cross-sectional clinical study. OBJECTIVE Determine if psychological factors "fear avoidance behavior" and "pain amplification," along with age, gender, duration, pain severity correlate scores of self-rated disability in chronic whiplash sufferers. SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA The Fear Avoidance Model has gained acceptance the understanding whiplash-associate disorders (WAD). While variables important this model have been studied acute/subacute samples some small samples, no study explicitly investigated role these other psychosocial play self-ratings neck-related WAD METHODS Chronic sufferers (>3 months) were recruited from private practice. No IV subjects included. Subjects completed a Neck Disability Index (NDI), Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia (TSK), visual analogue scale, diagram. Clinical demographic data also obtained. Univariate correlations obtained Spearman rank correlation coefficient. Items achieving statistical significance on univariate analysis loaded step-wise linear regression analysis. RESULTS One hundred seven (54 females), mean age 45.4 (17) years duration 13.4 (14.6) months. Fair to moderately strong between NDI TSK, scale drawing scores, but not "duration." Pain Diagram correlated severity. A multivariate accounting 31% variance (P < 0.001) was severity, drawing. CONCLUSION It appears that (fear beliefs amplification) do influence This does appear be larger than found studies subjects. may plateau fairly early post-WAD period. There is evidence provide insight into nonorganic behavior.
