摘要: Background: Reduced alpha-defensin expression has been reported in the terminal ileum (TI) of adult patients with ileal Crohn's disease (CD). However, little is known about children chronic inflammatory bowel (IBD). Methods: In all, 283 intestinal biopsies were obtained from CD, ulcerative colitis (UC), and healthy controls. Absolute mRNA copy numbers for HD5, HD6, IL-8, Villin 1, Tcf-4 analyzed by reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). HD5 immunostaining was performed on biopsy sections genotyped NOD2 mutations. Results: Equal levels alpha-defensins (HD5 HD6) found TI CD (L1+L3) compared to colonic (L2) In contrast, we significantly higher UC Reduced observed exclusively duodenum L1+L3 phenotype. We demonstrate increased HD6 inflamed colon IBD (UC CD) attributable presence metaplastic Paneth cells. Conclusions: In this study no difference significant reduction phenotype suggests that a possibly impaired PC differentiation may lead altered at some stage disease. Additionally, substantially mucosa raises question their potential involvement modulating inflammation these patients. (Inflamm Bowel Dis 2010;)
