摘要: This work reports on the coupling of light activated antimicrobial (LAA) agents with gold nanoparticles to provide new materials that displayed enhanced antimicrobial properties. A versatile and robust approach synthesis gold-thiol-photosensitiser antimicrobials has been developed. In synthetic thiols attached were tiopronin and glutathione. The photosensitisers toluidine blue tin chlorin e6 respectively. It was found gold-tiopronin-toluidine at 1 µM concentration efficient as antimicrobials, had a reduction colony forming units (cfu) S. aureus by 4.5 log 10 compared with, 0.5 for same concentration. attachment thiol protected lethal photosensitisation bacteria. The second mixing charge stabilised various photosensitisers. When when mixed toluidine blue (20 µM), showed in 2.5 1.5 only This established covalent photosensitiser not necessary enhancement Also, it discovered that certain dyes which have basic, cationic natures different interactions nanoparticles. A separate study focusing semi-conductor quantum dots undertaken investigate any relationship between and photosensitisers. enhance effect An excess 1.7 10 enhancement bacterial kill observed dot 0.0075 µM 20 µM. summary, efficacy can be presence CdSe.
