摘要: The ethanol-producing bacterium Zymomonas mobilis can serve as a model organism for the study of rapid catabolism and inefficient energy conversion in bacteria. Some basic aspects its physiology still remain poorly understood. Here, energy-spilling pathways during uncoupled growth, structure function electron transport chain, possible reasons oxidative phosphorylation are analysed. Also, interaction between ethanol synthesis respiration is considered. search mechanisms futile transmembrane proton cycling, well identification respiratory complexes, like energy-coupling NAD(P)H:quinone oxidoreductase cyanide-sensitive terminal oxidase(s), outlined key problems further research Z. metabolism.
