Investigation on color variation of Morpho butterfly wings hierarchical structure based on PCA

摘要: Morpho butterfly wings show brilliant blue color, which has a close relationship with the hierarchical micro/nano structures on surface of scales. When liquids such as methanol, ethanol and isopropanol different refractive indexes drop onto scales, reflectance would decrease. The main peaks shift to right scales turn yellow-green. After volatilizes completely, revert original color. typical wing are modeled, variation in course dropping is simulated. Furthermore, principal component analysis (PCA) method employed analyze experimental simulation data, extract components reduce dimensions. As result, curves mapping clearly shown coordinate system consisting three components. color during process could be monitored, kinds obviously distinguished according distributed regions points. This study provides guidance environmental media detecting well data processing, enhances fabrication application mimic structures.
