摘要: In Heliconius melpomene, ecdysis to each stadium is asynchronous in continuous light, but synchronized with respect the time of day an LD 12:12 photoperiod regime-generally occurring during early part photophase. This a consequence synchronism onset moulting cycle, which occurs approximately 24 hours before ecdysis. There variation number days taken complete instar, however. Onset cycle gated by photoperiod, and at first gate following attainment larvae certain threshold size, indicated weight. By depriving food, size obtained can be delayed; this results delay cycle. Possible biological advantages wild existence for ecdysis, have been suggested.
