摘要: Abstract Mixed facies of manganese nodules from the southwestern Carlsberg Ridge have been analysed for Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Co and Zn. We present 71 analyses including averages outer layer, inner layer near-core material. Morphological studies show seven types which medium-size spheroidal, ellipsoidal intergrown are most abundant. Only spheroidal with rough surfaces higher concentrations Zn towards whereas smooth-surface other than type these elements core region. The nodule a decreasing content in all layers analysed. Copper Ni low associated Mn. mineralogy indicates diagenetic processes involving metal remobilisation, chemistry suggests precipitation metals mostly seawater. Variations source supply responsible observed variations chemical composition nodules.
