摘要: The Mediterranean fruit fly (medfly), Ceratitis capitata, is a pest of worldwide substantial economic importance, as well Tephritidae model for sterile insect technique (SIT) applications. latter partially due to the development and utilization genetic sexing strains (GSS) this species, such Vienna 8 strain, which currently used in mass rearing facilities worldwide. Improving performance strain both field could significantly enhance efficacy SIT reduce operational costs. Recent studies have suggested that manipulation gut symbionts can significant positive effect on overall fitness strains. We culture-based approaches isolate characterize gut-associated bacterial species under conditions. also exploited one isolated Enterobacter sp., dietary supplement (probiotic) larval diet, we assessed its effects parameters standard operating procedures programs. Probiotic application sp. resulted improvement pupal adult productivity, reduced duration, particularly males, without affecting weight, sex ratio, male mating competitiveness, flight ability longevity starvation.
