摘要: In this study, we directly contrast two approaches that have been proposed to explain the SNARC effect. The traditional direct mapping account suggests a association exists between position of number on mental line and location response. On other hand, accounts are considered propose an intermediate step in which numbers categorized as either small or large magnitude response representations. comparison task, departed from usual bimanual left/right dimension instead introduced unimanual close/far dimension. A spatial-numerical was observed: were associated with close response, while far regardless movement direction (left/right). We discuss why these results cannot be explained by assuming representation locations how can alternative accounts.
