First Paleoparasitological Report on the Animal Feces of Bronze Age Excavated from Shahr-e Sukhteh, Iran

摘要: Shahr-e Sukhteh (meaning burnt city in Persian) Iran is an archeological site dated back to around 3,200-1,800 BC. It located Sistan and Baluchistan Province of known as the junction Bronze Age trade routes crossing Iranian plateau. was appointed current study area for paleoparasitological investigations. Excavations at this have revealed various materials since 1967. In present study, sheep carnivore coprolites excavated from were analyzed by means rehydration technique using TSP solution finding helminth eggs. Dicrocoelium dendriticum, Capillaria sp., Taenia sp. eggs identified, while some other objects similar Anoplocephalidae Toxocara spp. also retrieved samples but their measured parameters did not match those these species. The paper illustrates first findings eastern supporting economic activities, peopling, communication well appropriate condition zoonotic helminthiasis life cycle site.
