摘要: Infection by Toxoplasma gondii postnatally can occur after ingestion of contaminated meat or water (tissue cysts/oocysts). In Europe, percentage borne infections is estimated between 30 and 63 %, out which pork makes the most important source. The aim this study was to (i) investigate seroprevalence T. in intensive pig farms from western France; (ii) identify risk factors associated with seropositivity. Data were collected November 2006 February 2008 60 farrow-to-finish farms, where sera taken 3595 fattening pigs, weaned suckling piglets. Information about three classes potential seropositivity obtained through a questionnaire concerning: breeding characteristics; farm management; (iii) husbandry hygiene. modified agglutination test (MAT) used for detection specific anti antibodies sera, starting 1/6 dilution. overall proportion seropositive animals 6.9 %, but herds at least one positive 100 %. Multivariate logistic mixed model showed an increased compared piglets, decreasing mid-sized large farms. presence Danish entry facility, that clearly separates clean dirty areas, had protective effect on as well. observed animal provides further evidence even confined conditions breeding, infection occurs, common. highest acquiring end weaning period. Smaller demonstrate higher levels. This also buildings effective protection against gondii.
