摘要: Helical flow in the human aorta is possibly a typical example of ‘form follows function’ vascular system. The helical blood may provide guaranties for inner surface ascending aortic wall to get smooth and even washing by so that atherosclerotic plaques can hardly form area aorta. It has been documented phenomenon not just localized aorta, it also exists several large arteries veins as well. Preliminary studies demonstrated widely existing might play positive physiological roles facilitating transport, suppressing disturbed flow, preventing accumulation atherogenic low density lipoproteins on luminal surfaces arteries, enhancing oxygen transport from arterial reducing adhesion cells surface. These lessen burden protect pathology atherosclerosis, thrombosis, intimal hyperplasia. great development time-resolved three-dimensional phase contrast MRI (flow-sensitive 4D-MRI) advent dimensionless indices such index proposed characterize make clinic quantification possible. Moreover, researchers probed into possibility apply mechanism design interventions reduce thrombus formation hyperplasia caused abnormal conditions.
