摘要: In this study, the antimalarial and toxicity potentials of husk fibre extracts five Nigerian varieties Cocos nucifera were evaluated in vitro. The only active extract fraction, West African Tall (WAT) ethyl acetate was then for its phytochemical constituents, at varying doses (31.25–500 mg/kg body weight) using various organ function indices. results revealed that WAT fraction (WATEAEF) contained alkaloids, tannins, flavonoids against Plasmodium falciparum W2 strain maintained continuous culture, with a selectivity index 30.3. same vivo berghei NK65, causing more than 50% reduction parasitaemia on days 4 6 after inoculation administered. WATEAEF did not significantly alter () indices liver cardiovascular system all administered but increased plasma creatinine concentration 250 500 mg/Kg weight compared to controls. study suggest possesses activity may adversely affect normal nor predispose subjects diseases impair kidney higher doses. Further studies are underway isolate principles.
