摘要: This paper studies the tradeoff between channel coding and ARQ (automatic repeat request) in Rayleigh blockfading channels. A heavily coded system corresponds to a low transmission rate with few retransmissions, whereas lighter higher transmitted but more retransmissions. The optimum error probability, where refers operating point that maximizes average successful throughput, is derived shown be decreasing function of signal-to-noise ratio diversity order. general conclusion work probability quite large (e.g., 10% or larger) for reasonable parameters, at very small can lead significantly reduced throughput.
