摘要: Abstract Phytochemical studies of the seeds Cameroonian medicinal plant, Salacia staudtiana, resulted in isolation and identification five new cardenolides (1–5) as well a dihydro-β-agarofuran (9), along with eight known compounds. The structures all compounds were elucidated by 1D/2D NMR, ESI-HRMS data comparison literature data. relative configurations defined X-ray crystallography analysis, NOESY correlations coupling constants. We evaluated their antibacterial efficacy against two commonly dispersed environmental strains Escherichia coli Bacillus subtilis, pathogenic Staphylococcus aureus Pseudomonas aeruginosa, compared to standard antibiotics, streptomycin gentamicin. Moreover, we assessed activity crude extract parallel evaluate plausible synergistic effects chemical defense during germination plant reproduction. isolated showed moderate activities tested organisms.
