Towards common European health policies: what are the implications for the Nordic countries?

摘要: Health care is an area that remains formally outside the competence of EU. Despite this, union’s influence on national health policies has increased substantially over past decade. In a series rulings, European Court Justice (ECJ) established de facto system patient rights, which, under certain conditions, entitle citizens to receive in other member states at expense social insurance their home country. This undermines autonomy health, key sector welfare systems. 2008, Commission proposed new directive patients’ rights which builds directly ECJ thus consolidating politically legal precedent set by Court.
