Pt Thin Films with Nanometer-Sized Terraces of (100) Orientation

摘要: Pulsed laser deposition was used to grow thin layers of Pt on (001)-oriented MgO substrate. The temperature varied from −25 600 °C, and the film thickness ca. 7 45 nm. crystalline quality, orientation, epitaxial relationship films substrate were investigated by atomic force microscopy X-ray diffraction as well through electrochemical probe reactions that are sensitive surface crystallographic orientations (H adsorption/desorption) width (100) terrace (NH3 electro-oxidation reaction). All (7 nm thick) exhibit only one peak (the (001) peak) a 4-fold in-plane symmetry, indicating growth is achieved independently temperature.
