Use of heterocyclic compounds as photosensitisers for the decarboxylation of carboxylic acids

摘要: Irradiation of solutions substituted acetic acids ArX·CH2·CO2H (X = O, S, or NH) in the presence acridine, phenazine, benzophenazines, and dyes such as Methylene Blue eosin, leads to decarboxylation acids. Reaction occurs oxygen products derived from methyl radicals ArX·ĊH2 are isolated. Under these conditions heterocyclic compounds recovered unchanged at end reaction. Possible reaction mechanisms discussed proposal is made that via electron transfer acid an excited state sensitiser.
