Fabrication and mechanical behaviour of Al2O3/Mo nanocomposites

摘要: Two types of Al2O3/Mo composites were fabricated by hot-pressing a mixture γ- or α-Al2O3 powder and fine molybdenum powder. For Al2O3/5 vol% Mo composite using γ-Al2O3 as starting powder, the elongated layers observed to surround part Al2O3 grains, which resulted in an apparent high value fracture toughness (7.1 Mpa m1/2). In system nanometre sized particles dispersed within grains at grain boundaries. Thus, it was confirmed that ceramic/metal nanocomposite successfully system. With increasing content, formed Considerable improvements mechanical properties observed, such hardness 19.2 GPa, strength 884 MPa 7.6 m1/2 containing 5, 7.5, 20 Mo, respectively; however, they not enhanced simultaneously. The relationships between microstructure are also discussed.
