摘要: Visual completion is a ubiquitous phenomenon: Human vision often constructs contours and surfaces in regions that have no sharp gradients any image property. When does human interpolate contour between given pair of luminance-defined edges? Two different answers been proposed: relatability minimizing inflections. We state prove proposition links these two proposals by showing that, under appropriate conditions, mathematically equivalent to the existence smooth curve with inflection points interpolates edges. The thus provides set necessary sufficient conditions for edges be relatable. On basis we suggest way extend definition (1) include role genericity, (2) current all-or-none character graded measure can track gradedness psychophysical data.
