摘要: Background: Adherence to pharmacological treatment for hypertension is considered a key factor in guaranteeing successful therapy outcomes. Non-adherence antihypertensive can be determined by demographic, drug related, disease related and setting factors. The primary aim of this study was investigate medication non-adherence its determinants among patients on follow up Ayder referral hospital Mekelle general hospital. Methods: A prospective cross-sectional conducted Referral Hospital (ARH) General (MGH) from May June, 2013. total 121 were interviewed with structured standard questionnaire patient charts reviewed. contained demographic questions, the 8-item Morisky adherence scale (MMAS) questions about characteristics therapy. data collected cleaned, entered analyzed using Statistical Package Social Science (SPSS) version 16 windows 95% confidence interval P value <0.05. Results: Around one fourth (26.4%) participants found non-adherent their treatment. Family support (AOR = 0.170, 95%CI 0.030-0.905), spot blood pressure 0.052, 0.003-0.242), place residence 0.184, =0.024-0.597) complications 21.737, 1.568-418.428) significantly strongly associated nonadherence. Conclusions: quarter completely only around half them adherent medications. absence family support, being at prehypertension class pressure, living city presence hypertensive heart shown decrease Therefore, health care professionals should adequately trained resourced offer proper counseling conditions.
