摘要: Ownership of backyard chickens (BYCs) is increasing in urban areas, and BYCs often have access to soil around the home. Exposure lead-contaminated a known health risk for people; however, degree which are exposed unknown. We employed cross-sectional convenience sample assess blood lead levels (BLLs) 57 from 30 flocks region with established environmental contamination. Over two-thirds (70.2%) had detectable their blood, averaged 12.5 μg/dL (range: <3.3 ≥65.0 μg/dL). No demonstrated clinical evidence toxicosis. Almost all owners (96.2%) reported that free soil, almost three-quarters (69.2%) participants giving unrestricted property. Our findings demonstrate subclinical but elevated BLLs common live an environment where contamination may be present. data support inclusion testing routine veterinary care BYCs, especially areas historic use leaded paint reported.
