摘要: Orthostatic hypotension (OH) is defined as a decrease in systolic blood pressure of 20 mmHg, or diastolic 10 mmHg within three minutes standing. It results from an inadequate response to postural changes pressure. Common symptoms include dizziness, light-headedness, blurred vision, weakness, fatigue, nausea, palpitations, sweating, head and neck ache, slow cognitive performance transient loss conscientiousness. OH common problem among elderly patients its aetiology diverse, including autonomic nervous system dysfunction, cardiac problems, medication side effects, ageing transitory deregulation volume. The instrumental diagnosis can be easily accomplished by the tilt-table test, with continuous monitoring parameters. non-invasive technique needs minimal collaboration patient. In our experience, when reviewing 327 patients, aged over 40 years examined because clinical suspicion OH, prevalence thereof was 51% whereas if focused subjects older than 70, proven 90% cases. more frequently they presented general deterioration, neurological problems well pharmacological effects. Ruling out malfunction drastically improve prognosis possible reversibility symptoms. Some nonpharmacological approaches management life quality are described for guidance.
