摘要: Abstract Compact specimens were employed to study fatigue crack growth of 2024-T4 aluminum alloy under constant/variable amplitude loading. Apparent R -ratio effect constant loading was identified with the nominal stress intensity factor range. Fatigue rates predicted by a unified model agreed experimental data well. Single tensile overload resulted in significant retardation which fully recovered after propagating out overload-affected zone. Retarded induced three-step sequence heavily dependent on two parameters. The influence variable reasonably characterized Wheeler’s model.
