Antenatal Depression in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka and the Factor Structure of the Sinhalese Version of Edinburgh Post Partum Depression Scale among Pregnant Women

摘要: Background Mental health problems among women of reproductive age group contribute to 7% Global Burden Diseases all ages. Purpose this study was determine the prevalence and correlates antenatal depression pregnant in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka, explore factor structure EPDS. Methods Pregnant with gestational 24–36 weeks residing Anuradhapura district, Lanka were recruited using a two stage cluster sampling procedure. Sinhalese version Edinburgh Post Partum Depression Scale (EPDS) an interviewer administered questionnaire use collect data. A cut off value 9 used for EPDS. Results A total 376 studied. Median EPDS score 5 (IQR 2–8). Prevalence sample 16.2% (n = 61). Thought self harming (item number 10) reported by 26 (6.9%). None socio-demographic factors associated sample. Having heart burn significantly depressive symptoms (p 0.041). Lankan showed solution. Anxiety not emerged as separate analysis. Conclusions Prevalence relatively low. EPDS.
