摘要: Ethnomedical questionnaires were distributed in Chicago, Costa Rica, and Colombia to identify the most common over-the-counter (OTC) plant or plant-based products advocated for treating oral pain, ulcerative conditions, cancer within these locations. Over 100 plants herbal preparations commercial products, purchased from local botanical markets pharmacies, treatment of medicine conditions. Locally familiar language names attributed at time purchase. Plant containing essential oils, anesthetic constituents, chemical compounds recommended as OTC systematized, tabulated, correlated with published phytotherapeutic literature. Though pharmacognostic research is available some species collected, further ethnographic needed correlate accurate taxonomic identification each species.
